With more than 35 years of experience as an executive leader and a proven track record working at the highest levels of sports administration on the global stage, French national Thierry Weil is an international, multi-cultural and multi-lingual leader. He is fluent in French, German and English.
His strong international reputation in the highest echelons of the sports industry has been cemented thanks to his executive roles at two companies – Adidas Global and FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).
Thierry Weil spent over 25 years working for Adidas and held the position of Vice President, Global Football Sports between 2003 and 2007, before enjoying a ten-year spell as Director of Marketing with FIFA.
Thierry Weil was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the International Hockey Federation in March 2018. He believes the values and respect within all levels of hockey are unique, whilst new international events, including the FIH Hockey Pro League, as well as Hockey 5s – the five-a-side format of playing hockey – present exciting opportunities for the growth of the sport worldwide.
Since joining FIH, Thierry Weil has overseen the successful organisation of numerous FIH events, including the 2018 FIH Men’s and Women’s World Cups, the launch of the inaugural FIH Hockey Pro League in 2019, the 2019 FIH Series Finals and the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers.
