Simon is Global Director for Audiences Research in MEC’s Analytics & Insight division, alongside his GroupM audience data & software role.
He has 37 years of media research and audience measurement experience, working in agencies, media vendors, and software bureaux. The recent plethora of digital and data challenges didn’t keep him awake at night, but focusing on TV-Video convergence does currently!
After graduating from Cambridge University in 1978, he began his career with IPC Magazines, had various Fleet Street roles, before establishing the DDS Client Support department in the 1980s. In 1995 he moved to the agency side at Leo Burnett as European Systems Director where he supported the P&G AOR assignments, before being asked to join CIA Group as Global Systems Director in 2000. He was “acquired and merged ” by WPP in 2002, and 13 years later is as excited and stimulated as ever by the digital evolution of the media and research industries.
