For 20 years Matthew Hancock has researched, written and presented on a wide variety of media trends for a range of public and private organisations.
Matthew is currently Head of Strategic Priorities and Planning for TV and Online Content at SBS, Australia’s multicultural broadcaster. His role sits in the content leadership team, developing editorial and investment strategies across a network of five free-to-air channels and the on-demand streaming platform.
After beginning his career in production, Matthew worked in a variety of screen policy and industry development roles. Before joining SBS, he led the advocacy agenda for Screen Producers Australia, the industry’s peak body for film and television producers.
Prior to this he also worked for funding agencies, Screen Australia and the Australian Film Commission, where he measured the effectiveness of investment programs as well as working for Mediascape Global, a consultancy measuring the impact of unsolicited news and current affairs coverage on public policy.
