
Brian Whitton has 30 years of experience building and commercializing emerging telecommunication networks and multi-media technologies. Starting in 2004, Brian has been responsible for overseeing development of Verizon’s FiOS network technology. In his current capacity, Brian is responsible for directing development and deployment of Verizon’s video and home networking technologies, including linear and VOD programming network solutions, video content management, advertising technology solutions, and connected and OTT services.
Prior to his appointment to his current position, Brian served as executive director for Platform Development, where he was responsible for overseeing Verizon’s packet telephony and optical transport architecture programs. Whitton has also held past positions in Operations Development, Business Planning, Product Development and Hardware and Software Engineering.
Whitton serves as a member of board of directors of the RVU Alliance working to advance the use of Remote User Interface (RUI) technology for home networked television entertainment, ensuring interoperability among devices. Whitton also serves as vice president of the board of directors for the MoCA Alliance promoting the development and adoption of standards for the transport of digital entertainment and information content over coaxial cable based home networks. He is a frequent guest lecturer in academia and industry on technology and its business implications.
Whitton began his career in 1983 with GTE. Brian received a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College in 1983 and an MBA from the University of Dallas with an emphasis on telecommunications management and policy in 1992.
