The Connected TV Awards 2014 are now officially open, overseen by Videonet and studiously independent, as always. Anybody can win these awards or reach the shortlists regardless of who they are or whether they have a marketing budget. They are a true reflection of technology and business achievement and as always, the winners will be announced at Connected TV Summit (June 11-12, 2014).
Having debuted in 2011, the awards are recognised as a valuable guide to what is bold, innovative and timely for the Connected TV, OTT/multiscreen and advertising marketplaces. The awards embrace both services and enabling technologies. We have a new category this year: ‘The Multiscreen Goes Mainstream Award’, designed to recognize technologies that achieve either better monetization of multiscreen, increased and cost-effective scale for multiscreen, or QoE that is demonstrably closer to broadcast TV than previously possible.
AWARDS CATEGORIES 2014
Four entries will be shortlisted from each category; there will be one winner and one commended entry. With the exception of ‘Achievement in Advertising’, the category winners will compete for the overall prize of ‘Outstanding Achievement in Connected TV 2014’. The entry form and more details about how to enter are below.
DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES
The deadline for awards submissions is Friday, February 28, 2014 at midnight Pacific Time.
AWARDS CEREMONY 2014
The awards will be presented during a ceremony at Connected TV Summit in London on June 11, 2014.
LAST YEAR’S WINNERS
Last year we received over 90 entries. Sky Deutschland won the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Connected TV Award 2013’ for its Sky Go multiscreen TV Everywhere service and the company also received one of the two awards for ‘Best Use of OTT by a Pay TV Operator’, with Viaplaybox, the hybrid DTT/OTT set-top from Viaplay taking the other award in that category. You can see all the 2013 winners and shortlists here.
CRITERIA FOR ENTERING
In order to qualify for these awards, all products/services must be publicly announced by Friday, February 28, 2014 (the closing date for the awards), although they do not have to be deployed by this time. Evidence of their announcement must be available on request. Advertising campaigns should have been publicized, if not run, by this date. Research or specifications/standards should be published, at least in a preliminary form, by this date.
